Gift Guide - For the Hostess
The hardest gifts to give are the ones for the kind of woman who has everything, or those who you don’t know very well. Think the hostess of a holiday party, your boyfriend’s mom, your boss, a super awesome colleague or advisor who’ve just recently become friends with… I have compiled a few no-fail presents for this kind of gal. Read on.
1. This scented oval from Dyptique is like version 2.0 for and way cooler (and safer!) than a candle. It comes in different scents like fig and lavender, but I recommend the No. 34, named after Dyptique’s store at 34 boulevard Saint-Germain.
2. A posh hand cream is a small luxury that she may not buy herself. Get her one with an amazing scent and pretty packaging like this one in Honey Blossom from Mor Cosmetics, which will look great in her bathroom counter or on her desk.
3. Everyone gets candles for the holiday season - either as a gift or for decoration. Some great matches in pretty and useful packaging will sure be a practical hit.
4. Is she into (light) DIY’ing? Then get her a couple paperwhite bulbs, a pretty bag with polished stones and a nice mason jar she can reuse, then write her a nice card with a helpful how-to (or DIY and give her the finished product!).
5. Not sure if she has a green thumb? No problem! Air plant terrariums are the next big thing. Plus they look fabulous and low-maintenance. Even better? Get her a class so she can go make them herself!
6. Not sure what her style is like? Give her an empty box - literally. Pretty boxes are always useful and very flexible. She can use them to display ephemera around her house, as a jewelry case or even as a pretty pencil case by her desk. I love these glass shadow boxes from west elm because they are simple and elegant, and they come in different sizes so you can mix and match and you can add a little surprise inside. Plus they can even be monogrammed!
