Capes, hoods & draped jackets! These are the things that are keeping me awake at night (quite literally the cape in my first Fashism post was something I dreamt up) and I think every woman (and why not man) should have at least one of each in their wardrobe. That’s why this Fall, my shop, MishaMarket, will be full with a variety of these.
I love the idea of taking a structured piece, such as a winter jacket and breaking all the lines around it: elongated lapel, sharp shoulders, lengthened, gathered sleeves, draped necklines, and overflowing hems all accented with a touch of pliable hardware such as spikes and scales created with fabric rather then metal. Dirty khaki, muddy blush and gothic olive (yes, it’s a real color name) will be in abundance but I’ll always offer staples in black and grey as well as my color muse of the year, nude.
